Does your website have a form? If so, do you get
erroneous emails and submissions? Most likely this is
due to a malicious computer program called a Spam
Bot or Email Bot. These "bots" are automated
programs designed to scour the internet to locate
forms to compromise. Once a form has been
identified, the program will auto-fill the form with its
spam or virus. If the program finds an unsecured
form, it will record the form's location so the
malicious programmer can come back later.
Fortunately there's a solution for these pesky bots, a
technology called CAPTHCA.

CAPTCHA Technology
|

CAPTCHA can be implemented into your form to
provide a simple test that most humans can pass,
but computer programs cannot. This test will
identify and confirm that it is in fact a human being
submitting to the form. For example, humans can
read distorted text (see example)
but
computer
programs cannot. Since they can't pass the test,
they can't submit to the form, hence
eliminating their ability to spam.
CAPTHCA has proven to be very successful and is
currently being implemented in many applications
throughout the internet. If you use the net daily,
chances are you have used the CAPTHCA technology
when you logged into a free email service, an online
forum, or submitted info to an internet poll or general
contact form.
